FERNDALE — Another local staple is returning, marking the end of winter and the start of spring.
On Saturday morning, March 18, runners (and walkers) are invited to lace up those sneakers and take part in either a 5K or 10K.
“(The race) was created to really bring the community together and to get people outside and excited for spring,” said Audrey Audette, events coordinator for the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce.
With the event going into its third year, 10 percent of this year’s proceeds will go to benefit the Community Service Co-op, a nonprofit that works to link local organizations for the betterment of the Ferndale community.
Audette said she’s expecting at least 50 people in attendence on Saturday, with additional people not yet registered to show up the day of the event.
The race, friendly to kids and pets, will start and end at the Chamber offices and will take runners through scenic views of Hovander Homestead Park.
Prizes for those who place in first, second and third include medals, swag bags and of course, bragging rights.
