Robert Brandt

Robert (Bob) John Brandt, 80, passed away at home on April 13, 2018. He was born Feb. 21, 1938 in Bellingham to John and Bess (Luke) Brandt. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1956 and married Myrna Erb on March 9, 1957.

Bob and Myrna lived in Bellingham until buying an 85-acre farm in 1964 on Vista Drive near Ferndale. There they raised their three children and registered Hereford cattle until selling the farm and moving to their current home on Family Hill Lane in 2006.

Bob was employed at Georgia-Pacific for 40 years. Most of that time was spent in the log yard running heavy equipment. He retired in 1997.

Bob enjoyed visiting with friends and strangers alike and was an exceptional storyteller, often talking about his days fishing with his uncles as a teenager and his love of military airplanes and ships. Bob and Myrna enjoyed making trips to Reno, developing many friends at the Silver Legacy. Bob was very proud of all the family’s accomplishments showing beef cattle at the many fairs they went to.

Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Jana Kortus; and a granddaughter, Mandy Kortus.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Myrna; daughter Janell (Dennis) Lyddan; son John (Rita) Brandt; son-in-law Randy Kortus; grandchildren Matt (Mandi) Kortus, Melissa Kortus, Mark (Lindsey) Kortus, Mike (Tess) Kortus, Trisha (Brian) Lee, Jamie (Alison) Lyddan, Robert (RJ) Brandt and Jake Brandt; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by a sister, Connie Davis.

At his request there will be no services. However, the family may have a celebration of life at a later date. Please visit the online guest book at www.molesfarewelltributes.com.
