Imogene Pederson

Imogene Pederson, 88, passed away quietly Tuesday, May 9, 2017 with family at her side.

She was born to Harry Harvey and Maude Melvina (Swain) Mount in Fredonia, Kansas, on Sept. 6, 1928. Imogene graduated from high school in Manhattan, Kansas. She and her family moved to Ferndale in 1946.

Imogene married the man of her dreams, Irvin Albert Pederson Jr., in 1951. She worked briefly for Montgomery Ward in Bellingham before taking the bookkeeping position at Irwin Hardware in Ferndale, where she worked until retirement in 1979. Imogene loved to play the piano and organ, knitting, crochet, travel in the RV, watching Seattle sports teams on TV and spending time with family and friends. She was a very loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also shared her warmth and love with friends and extended family.

Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin A. Pederson Jr.

She is survived by her three children, daughter Vanetta (Chuck) Durham, son Wayne (Teresa) Pederson and son Jay (Leslie) Pederson; grandchildren Joe (Tayler) Pederson, Melissa (David) Claybaugh and Derek (Courtney) Bannerman; eight great-grandchildren; sister Melvina Daws of Ferndale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 27, in Greenacres Cemetery of Ferndale. A Celebration of Life reception will follow at the Ferndale American Legion Post #154, 5537 2nd Ave., Ferndale, WA 98248.
