Robert Zweegman

  Robert (Bob) Zweegman, of Everson, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018.

  Bob was born in Lynden on Nov. 27, 1931 to Ernest J. Zweegman Sr. and Johanna (Adema) Zweegman. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He then was a truck driver and dispatcher for Lynden Transport Inc., being one of the first original drivers of the Alcan Highway. Later he worked for other firms as well as his own.

  He was a life member of the American Legion Post 86 of Blaine, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9301 of Lynden, and a life member of Disabled American Veterans Washington Chapter 19 of Bellingham.

  He leaves behind a sister, Marge DeBeeld, and a brother, Ernest Zweegman Jr.; his children, Vicki and husband Bob Goodwin, Valerie and husband Denny Schuyleman, Vivian Archambault, Ken Zweegman and wife Rose, Mike Zweegman, and Lisa McCauley; as well as grandchildren, several great- and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by two grandsons and ex-wives Dodie and Edie.

  There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in Monumenta Cemetery of Lynden.
