Stella Vinkes/DeJong Som is celebrating her 90th birthday. She was born in Rock Rapids, Iowa, on Dec. 7, 1927, to Evert and Alice Vinkes. Her family includes children Alice and Dave Wiggins, Bea and Richard Martinez, Clare and Les Doerksen, Delores and Arlan Holleman, Eldon and Renee DeJong, plus many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. An open house for Stella will be held from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, at Meadow Greens, 301 W. Homestead Blvd., Lynden.
