Albert Mulder

  Albert Mulder, age 90, passed away at Lynden Manor on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018. He was known for his strong faith in Jesus, quick sense of humor and generous spirit.

  Albert was born Aug. 5, 1928 at home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to John and Elizabeth (Hoolsema) Mulder. He was the youngest of nine children.

  Albert moved from the Grand Rapids area in 1932 to a farm in Imlay City, Michigan, and attended the public schools in Imlay from 1934 to 1947. After graduation he farmed a few years, then in 1951 moved to Artesia, California, where he met his wife Darlene Hoving. After the wedding, Albert farmed a couple more years before being drafted into the Army. He served two years in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and then Fort Knox, Kentucky.

  After the Army, Albert attended Port Huron Business College. He worked as a cost accountant for Motorola and Lockheed Aircraft, among many others. In 1968 the family moved to Lynden. Albert was employed by Diehl Ford in Bellingham and after 19 years he retired in 1988. In retirement he worked construction with his son Dan of Mulder Construction. Albert enjoyed woodworking, golf and traveling around the United States and Canada.

  Albert is survived by children Leann Nydam (Gerrit) of Lynden and Daniel Mulder (Judith) of Helena, Montana; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

  He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene Mulder in September 2001.

  Services are being planned for Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018.
