Allen Meenk

Screen Shot 2015-07-01 at 9.22.38 AM  Allen Meenk passed away at his home in Lynden on Sunday night, June 28, 2015. He was born at home in Lynden on Dec. 8, 1921, to Arthur and Anna VanPeursem Meenk.
  Allen served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. His interests ranged from music and church to birds, the weather, nature, gardening, geography and fishing. It seemed he could make or fix anything.
  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lois Meenk Nyland; and an infant son, Russell.
  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, VerLee; his six chidren: John (Amy, deceased), Marilyn (Randy) Dingman, Laura, Cynthia (Frank) Haehnel, Christine (Cyrus) Smith and James (Ellie); his sister Edith (Wally) Meyers; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
  A memorial service will be held in Grace Baptist Fellowship, which he attended, on Friday, July 3, at 3 p.m.
