Charles Crnich

  Charles “Chuck” Crnich, age 70, passed away on Sept. 12, 2018 at his home in Bellingham.

  He was born on April 27, 1948, in Bellingham to Joe and Adele (McCauley) Crnich. Chuck graduated from Meridian High School in 1966 and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He married the love of his life, Barbara Ballard, on Oct. 25, 1969, in Bellingham and together they raised their two children, Jeff and Kelly.

  Chuck worked for the Whatcom County road department for over 30 years as a dump truck and lowboy driver. He enjoyed traveling in their fifth-wheeler, fishing, coaching baseball, watching his grandsons play football, and attending Meridian games. Chuck will be remembered as an amazing Papa, a great storyteller, a collector of many things and a lawn mowing expert!

  He was predeceased by his father, Joe.

  Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Barb; mother Adele Crnich; daughter Kelly (Duane) Gookstetter; son Jeff (Melanie) Crnich; grandchildren Hannah, Luke, Trent, Rodney, Riley, Raeleen and Ruger; brother David (Judy) Crnich; sister Jackie (Jeff) Crandall; brother-in-law Steve (Scarlett) Ballard; and many loving relatives and friends.

  Memorials may be made to the Meridian Public School Foundation, 525 Beard Rd., Lynden, WA 98264.

  Visitation was held in Westford Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be held in Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 Texas St. in Bellingham, on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. A reception follows at the church.
