Screen Shot 2015-07-30 at 9.22.13 AM  Cora Alfrieda Crossman, 93, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 15, 2015, in Lynden.
Born in Great Falls, Montana, on May 23, 1922, to Joseph and Mathilda Stordahl, she graduated from Fort Shaw High School, Montana, where she played girls basketball. She married Lawrence Johns and they had four children.
While living in Helena, Montana, with her children, Cora worked for the state of Montana, met and married Grant Crossman and, as she would say, “lived the good life.” Cora and Grant retired in Salem, Oregon, where they resided until Grant’s death in 2007. Cora then moved to Bellingham to be near her family. For the past eight years she was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter, Kathy Kershner, Kathy’s husband Matt and her great-grandchildren Jake, Grant (Tabitha) and Molly.
Cora will be missed by so many. She had a compassionate and accepting heart for everyone she met, a beautiful smile and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved children and was an avid doll collector and crafter.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Lawrence and Grant; daughter Sally; three infant grandchildren; brothers Maynard and Bill; and sisters Helen, Ruth and Ollie.
She is survived by children Larry (Jeannie) Johns of Helena, Sharole Green of Bellingham and Eddie Johns of Great Falls, Montana; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister Delores Rosin of Helena; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by Whatcom Cremation & Funeral.
