Cynthia ‘Cindy’ Hansen

Cynthia ‘Cindy’ Hansen

Cynthia Ann (McCauley) Hansen of Ferndale passed away on Dec. 17, 2023, after a hard-fought battle against a brutal illness.

Cindy, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on March 9, 1963, to Dorothy Ann (Watson) and Ronald Keith McCauley. She attended Meridian High School. After high school, she ran her own daycare for many years and later became a dental laboratory technician at a dental clinic. Cindy eventually became integral to all the operations at the clinic and went above and beyond her duties as a technician to make sure the clinic always had adequate supplies and was a welcoming place for patients and staff. She loved her family dearly and was an incredible mother to her two sons. She also helped to care for and raise two of her nephews.

Cindy loved children of all ages and was a mom to anyone when they needed it. She was known to volunteer to babysit her grandkids before their parents even asked. If a friend or family member was recovering from surgery or had just moved, she would make their favorite meals to bring to them. She somehow always seemed to know everyone’s likes, dislikes and preferences, which meant she always knew the right things to say and had the perfect meal, treat, or gift ready to lift anyone’s spirits.

Cindy enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, spending time with her husband at their beach house at Sandy Point or in Nevada, at their Boulder City house, shopping, gardening, baking, and cooking. She and her husband Eric enjoyed working on home projects together. Throughout their marriage, they built a home and significantly remodeled two others. She was known for her stylish home decor and the way her homes and all surroundings were decorated to perfection. She had a famous taste in fine cars, which resulted in many trips to Seattle with husband for maintenance and was firm believer in the importance of keeping them spotless. Although she was a tiny woman, she loved big dogs and enjoyed her Great Danes and Newfoundlands. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her house and took a lot of joy in preparing, decorating, and cooking for holidays.

Cindy is survived by her husband Eric; sons Wes (Raychel), and Cody (Crystal); father Ron; brother Ron (Jeanette); brother, Danny, nephews, Brett and Jason; 11 grandchildren; step-daughters Melissa, Nicole and Leslie; ex. husband Kim Carson, and many more friends and extended family members.

Cindy is preceded in death by her mother Dorothy, brother Steve, nephew Bradley, and granddaughter Anna.

Please join the family for Cindy’s celebration of life on Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal, 355 Harris Ave., Bellingham.
