Dean Ellis Munkres, age 73, of Lynden, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 28, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 16, 1942 in Bellingham to Wayne and Jensine Munkres.
He is survived by brothers Arden/Margaret of Eugene, Oregon, and Dale/Judy, formerly of Ferndale; beloved wife, Vicki; children Dale/Thess of Everson, Jill/Keith Shelly of Lynden, Jeff/Jenn of Lynden, Joey/Laura of Lynden, Yvonne/Mitch Merritt of Acme and Michelle/Eli Small of Florida; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Pam.
Private family graveside services were held on June 4 in Nooksack Cemetery followed by a celebration of Dean’s life at Faith Community Church, 586 Birch Bay-Lynden Rd., Lynden, with Pastor Jim Miller and Pastor Tim Johnson officiating.
