Dorothy De Kriek

  Dorothy Johanna De Kriek, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, in Hospice House of Bellingham.
  She was born in Alton, Iowa, on Jan. 1, 1924, to Gerrit and Grace Van Dam.
  On July 12, 1944, Dorothy married William “Bill” De Kriek in Pueblo, Colorado, and to that union were born two daughters, Gerrilyn and Linda.
  Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death in 1986 by her beloved husband, Bill; sister Johanna Baar Bogaard; and son-in-law Martin Vande Hoef.
  She is survived by daughters Gerrilyn Vande Hoef and Linda (Larry) Vande Hoef; three grandchildren, Janis (Gordon) Snyder, Lance (Annette) Vande Hoef and Ladd (Katie) Vande Hoef; nine great-grandchildren Lorné (fiancé Kyle), Bennett, Lexy and Lily Snyder, Blake and Grant Vande Hoef and Lane, Lissa and Isaac Vande Hoef; and sisters-in-law Berdena Koning Van Doorn and Dena De Kriek.
  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dorothy’s name may be made to Whatcom Hospice House, 2800 Douglas Rd., Bellingham, WA 98225.
  A time of visitation and viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016, in Gillies Funeral Home. In honor of Dorothy, an 11 a.m. memorial service will be on Friday, April 8, in the Netherlands Reformed Church.
