J. Wayne Lamphere

  J. Wayne Lamphere, born July 22, 1937, in Albany, Oregon, passed peacefully on Sept. 4, 2020, at the St. Francis Care Center in Bellingham.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Robin (Brian) Danforth, of Seattle; his son, Jeff (Lisa) Lamphere, of Lynden; his brother, Richard (Nancy), of Albany; and his three granddaughters.
Wayne spent his early years working in the grocery industry throughout the Northwest, later making a career change to remodeling homes. He dabbled in building skiff boats before moving to California to work with his brother in a log homes business. In spring 2000, he relocated to Lynden to be near his son’s family and spent much of his time at the Lynden Community Center and as a volunteer with the Lynden Pioneer Museum. For a few seasons, he played a convincing Santa Claus at the mini train in Birch Bay — even his own young granddaughters did not recognize him! Later, he enjoyed volunteering at the Heritage Flight Museum in Bellingham.
A private family memorial will be arranged.
