Marie Kaemingk

Marie Kaemingk passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior and God on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, surrounded by her loving children. She was 93. Marie was married to Henry Kaemingk for 68 years and had five children: Linda, Gary, Wayne, Galen and Wendell.

Marie was born at home in Everson to Marie and Cornelius Jager. She was the youngest of six children. Her given name was Cornelia. Soon after her birth, her mother Marie had a stroke and became so ill that they thought she was going to die and they renamed her Marie after her mother.

Marie grew up on Northwood Road. She attended Lynden Christian School through eighth grade. Marie met her husband Henry at church and they were married on Oct. 11, 1946. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother raising five kids. She worked for Lynden Meat and candling eggs and was involved with Ladies Aid and Christian schools mothers club. She loved to garden, ride bike, golf and attend the many kids’ sporting events. Later in life, Hank and Marie spent many years volunteering for CRWRC.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; son Gary; and siblings Dora, John, Johanna, Minnie and Hilda.

Marie is survived by children Linda (Robert) Hamstra, Wayne, Galen (Jeannie) and Wendell (Patty); daughter-in-law Pat Kaemingk; grandchildren Scott (Margaret), Mindy (Tim), Kari (Rob), Matthew (Heather), Karla (Hamilton), Andrew, Braeden (Chika), Brianne (Jeremy), Brooke (Tyler), Brandt (Chelsea), Brennen, Brenell (Blaine), Amy (Eric), Matthew, Jordan, Lindsey and Allyson; 18 great-grandchildren; her brothers-in-law Elmer and Frank (Joy); sisters-in-law Johanna Bootsma and Betty Kaemingk; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

As a family we thank the Christian Health Care Center staff for the loving care and compassion for Marie who gave Mom so much love, hugs and exceptional care. Thank you to Kara who made her the baker supervisor and helped her feel at home when she wanted to be home. She would tell you “Merrrcy” if she could.
