Marion Aregger

  Marion “Mert” Darlene Aregger, age 82, of Bellingham, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 13, 2018.

  Marion was born on Aug. 2, 1935 in Bellingham to Perley W. and Rose (Shetler) Howell. She was a proud graduate of Ferndale High School. In 1955 she met James Aregger, and after six weeks of knowing each other they were married. They remained married to just a few days shy of 63 years.

  Marion was funny, loving and sassy, and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a great seamstress who loved sewing and quilting. Marion loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a group of six high-school friends that would get together every month to have lunch.

  Marion was preceded in death by her son Mike and daughter Leilani.

  She is survived by her husband, James; daughter Fawn (Dave) Hershey; sister Betty McClellan; brother Gordon (Connie) Howell; sisters-in-law Bernice (Roy) Pottle and Sugar Hiatt; four granddaughters, Jennifer (Elliott), Lindsey (Keith), Erika (Chad) and Michelle; as well as six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

  A graveside service will be held at noon Friday, July 20, in Woodlawn Cemetery of Ferndale.

  The family thanks Whatcom Hospice and the Christian Health Care Center of Lynden for the care given to Marion.
