Nicholas Bruland

Nicholas Charles Bruland, age 35, went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Nov. 15, 2018 after a courageous battle with a rare aggressive cancer.

Nick was born to Willy and Debby (Benner) Bruland in Bellingham on Dec. 12, 1982. He graduated from Nooksack Valley High School and then attended Whatcom Community College. Nick was employed by Martin’s Feed as a mechanic, and for Bruland Drilling and Boring, a job in which he spent years playing in the dirt alongside his dad.

Nick enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowboarding, mountain biking, watching football and working, but most of all his greatest joy was spending time with the loves of his life, his wife, son and stepdaughters. Nick was humble, kind, compassionate and always acting in a selfless manner and being attentive to others. He loved the Lord and being outdoors in God’s beautiful creation. We all lost an amazing friend, uncle, brother, son, father and husband.

Nick was preceded in the death by sister Tracy Bruland and grandparents Rolph and Thelma Bruland and Lawrence and Dolores Benner.

He is survived by his wife Willow; son Tate; stepdaughters Breana, Jaeda and Natalya; parents Willy and Debby Bruland; sisters Kristin (Brian) Foote and Laura (Tom) Baker; brother Norm (Katie) Bruland; and nine nieces and nephews.

You are invited to join family and friends for Nick’s memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in Spring Creek Bible Church, 567 E. Kellogg Rd., Bellingham. A family graveside service will take place in Nooksack Cemetery at noon.
