Norma Bruget

Screen Shot 2016-06-01 at 9.15.18 AM  Norma Toler Thomas Bruget was born on April 6, 1920, in Palisades, Washington, to Edwin S. and Cora Hoff Toler. She died on May 21, 2016, at the age of 96. She lived over 90 years in Whatcom County, graduating from Mount Baker High School in 1938.
  Norma and Clifford Thomas were married in 1941 and after his death she married Alfred Bruget in 1977.
  She was preceded in death by Al Bruget; sister Nadine Hansen; and brother Irvin Toler.
  Norma is survived by her children: Terry (Gina), Dianne Petrie (Ken, deceased) and Suzanne Kirk (Derell); brother Gerald Toler (Christine); and sister-in-law Bonnie Whelan (Bert).
  She was the administrative assistant to the superintendent of Mount Baker School District from 1952 to 1972. She also taught the office skills classes to many of the students. She was an active member of Central Lutheran Church in Bellingham for over 80 years and the last two years of Hope Lutheran Church in Lynden. She was a life member of Daughters of Norway. Norma was very skilled in the art of hardanger (Norwegian embroidery) and taught many women the skill.
  A memorial service will be held in Hope Lutheran Church, 900 E. Grover St., Lynden, on June 11 at 1 p.m. Private committal will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery of Everson.
