Riemer Faber

Screen Shot 2016-04-06 at 12.44.36 PM  Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Riemer Faber went to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2016, after an extended illness.
  Riemer was born on March 12, 1934, in beautiful Groningen, Holland, to Harm and Dorothy (Luidens) Faber. He joined his brother Jan and sister Janny. In 1953, Riemer and his parents moved to Grandville, Michigan.
  He received his GED through the U.S. Armed Forces Institute in Madison, Wisconsin, and served the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. During his time with the Army, he met his future wife, Jenny. After dating for two years, Riemer married Jenny Buitenbos on Aug. 15, 1958, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Together they had four sons. In 1974, Riemer and Jenny moved their family to Sumas and later to Lynden.
  Riemer was a man of details. He was a finish carpenter for Faber Brothers, an oil painter of old Dutch masters, among others, and handcrafted furniture. He loved to read, write poetry and spend time with his family. Riemer was a member of American Reformed Church in Lynden.
  Riemer was preceded in death by his brother, Jan Faber. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jenny; sons Harry (Janet), Rick (Debby), Ron (Marcia) and Tim (Lydia); 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and sister Janny Koenen.
  Remembering Riemer, his memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016, in American Reformed Church on Northwood Road, Lynden.
