Roland Signett

Screen Shot 2016-08-03 at 1.29.46 PM  Dr. Roland Dale Signett, age 72, of Ferndale, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016, in Whatcom Hospice House of Bellingham. He was born on Dec. 14, 1943, in Susanville, California, to parents Norman Maze and Wanda May (Cook) Doss.
  Roland graduated from high school with the class of 1961 in Anderson, California. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from California State University, Fresno, and his doctorate in history from the University of Washington. Roland married Carol Ann McFeron on Nov. 25, 1967, in Fresno. In 1975 he was employed by the City of Ferndale until his retirement in 2004 as the city administrator. He didn’t stay retired long as he went to work as the city administrator in Durham, Oregon, until he officially retired in 2013. When he wasn’t working, Roland loved to work on genealogy, photography, reading and traveling.
  He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol; daughter Meredith D. Ziegler (Rob); son Brandon K. Signett; granddaughters Katelyn and Amanda Harmoney; grandson Jason Signett; and great-grandson Tyson Signett.
  At Roland’s request there will be no service. His urn will be placed privately in a niche at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale.
  The family suggests memorial donations be made to Whatcom Hospice House, 2806 Douglas Ave., Bellingham, WA 98225.
