Rosemary Anker

Rosemary Alice Anker (Ruhle), age 64, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham on Nov. 18, 2019.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1955, in Ketchikan, Alaska, to Ken and Retha Ruhle (Black). Rosemary graduated from Bellingham High School in 1974 and, after working her entire life, retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her siblings Barbara, Eddy, Raymond and Russell.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, Gary Anker; children Ian Blomeen, Courtney Blomeen and Kim Anker, as well as her seven grandchildren Seth, Gracie, Oscar, Alicia, Stori, Axlynn and Rainilyn.

Rosemary was an advocate for all those who were less fortunate in this world. Whatever she could do to help someone else in need, she would do it — from buying gloves and coats for children playing in the snow without, or tarps to be donated to the Lighthouse Mission. She was always looking for ways to give more than she ever received. When not helping others out, she was a passionate Bingo player and loved her grandkids and being with them.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, in Ten Mile Cemetery, 6268 Medcalf Rd. south of Lynden. Details on a reception will be provided at the funeral service. A Celebration of Life gathering will be announced in coming weeks.

Donations to support the Celebration of Life, Gary Anker and cancer research can be completed at gofundme.com/roseanker.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
