screen-shot-2016-09-14-at-1-01-15-pm  Sandy Hallberg went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 at the age of 71.
Sandy was born Nov. 30, 1944 in Laredo, Texas to John and Grayce (Belew) Potts. At a young age, the family moved to Ferndale and then on to the Everson area where she graduated from Nooksack Valley High School. On Nov. 17, 1962, Sandy married Jerry Hallberg and over time Carey, Heidi, Curtis, Jay, Ericka and Miranda made the family complete.
After Jerry retired from Georgia-Pacific in 1980, they moved out to the Barnhart Road farm and Sandy became a farmer’s wife full-time. She raised the best calves and had an amazing notecard record-keeping system for her calves. She would draw a picture of the calves and their special markings along with other details. She was quite something!
Sandy was good at home interior, painting, drawing and art projects that included her own children and most of the neighbor kids. She enjoyed cooking, canning, and vegetable and flower gardening.
Sandy and Jerry were faithful members of Sunrise Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jerry; son Carey (Nikki) Hallberg and children Alexis, Brynn and Cody; daughter Heidi (Howard) and children Erika (Todd), Nicolas, Chase, Savanah and Mahala (Jason); son Curtis (Kimberli) and children Jake, Kelsey, Madison and Brooklyn; son Jay (Taryn) and children Ally, Sophie, Cooper, Bakker and Rusten; twin daughters Ericka and Miranda; son Warren Pullig and children Jolee, Makenze and Wren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her siblings Everett Potts, Tim (Bonnie) Potts, Terri Potts and Randy (Angela) Potts.
A memorial service honoring Sandy will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 in Sunrise Baptist Church, 2480 W. Badger Rd., Custer. There will be a potluck gathering at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at Berthusen Park. Private interment will be held at Greenacres Memorial Park, Ferndale.
