Stamp Out Hunger nets 7,000 pounds in Ferndale Saturday

FERNDALE — Local letter carriers collected over 7,000 pounds of food for the Ferndale Food Bank on Saturday, according to food bank director Suzanne Nevan.

The annual event, held all over the country, allows residents to place bags of nonperishable food by their mail boxes. Letter carriers then voluntarily pick it up for delivery to food banks.

This year’s total far surpassed last year’s 5,302 pounds of collected food.
