Tony Vermeulen

Screen Shot 2015-09-10 at 9.51.32 AM  Tony Vermeulen, age 82, of Everson, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015. Tony was born on the family farm near Lynden on Jan. 19, 1933, to Gerrit and Ada (Berrevoets) Vermeulen. He was one of 10 children. Tony graduated from Lynden Christian High School. Tony was drafted toward the end of the Korean War and spent his two-year obligation assigned to Fort Lewis. He was primarily a mess cook and a truck driver during his tour in the Army.
  He owned a dairy farm on East Badger Road, then later sold the dairy and started a painting business. Tony married Louise Meyers in 1954. He married Marilyn Bosman on Dec. 12, 1986.
  Tony enjoyed camping with family and friends and loved cheering for the grandkids’ sporting events and having coffee with friends at the Auction Barn.
  He is survived by his children, Gary and Doreen Vermeulen and KaraLeigh Adams; stepchildren Brenda and Randy Cienfuegos, Galen Bosman and Shara and Jeff Davis; grandchildren Preston, Kyle, Kayla (Trent), Shaylee, Tyler, Keelan, Kale and Logan; two great-grandchildren, Demi and Kobe and one on the way; brothers and sisters Adie Smits, Casey (Jerry), Jim (Sylvia) Vermeulen, Gert (Maynard) Tjoelker, Bud (Pat) Vermeulen, Cora (Al) Stremler and Elaine (Vince) Tierney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
  Tony was preceded in death by his parents; brother Gerrit; sister Margie Tabor; and infant son Larry.
  A family graveside committal will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, at Monumenta Cemetery followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service in Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 1105 Liberty St., Lynden.
