Vernon Norton

  Vernon Norton was born on July 23, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, and passed away on Feb. 26, 2019. He was seventh of the ten children of Clarence and Elsie Norton.

  The family moved to a farm in Wisconsin when Vern was 13 years old. He soon learned to love farming and was active in 4H and FFA during his high school years. Vern moved to Olympia, Washington, in 1961 to marry Lynne Dalrymple and they raised a family there together. In 1998 they moved to a little house at Appel Farms in Ferndale to be close to their grandchildren.

  Vern is survived by his wife, Lynne; daughters Melody (Kendall) Johnson and Ruth (John) Appel; sons Paul (Dawn) Norton and Ken (Amy) Norton; seven grandchildren; one grandson-in-law; and a great-grandchild on the way. Vern is also survived by his sister Louise Rogaczewski of Barronett, Wisconsin.

  Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Robert, George, David, James, Edward and Herbert; and sisters Ruth Schulze and Sue Grow.

  A memorial service was held on March 8.
