Joy Mansfield

Joy Lynne (Collins) Mansfield, 71, passed away in the comfort of her home on June 26, 2017.

She was born on Jan. 5, 1946 in Bremerton to the late Maudine and Ray Collins. Joy attended Trinity College, earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and a master’s degree from Werstern Washington University. She was a dedicated teacher for nearly 30 years at Fisher Elementary School in Lynden. Joy had a beautiful voice. She sang in several women’s choruses including Sweet Adelines and Valley Voices. She loved to travel and she especially enjoyed spending time at the beach. But most of all, she loved her family.

She is survived by her devoted husband of over 50 years, Frank Mansfield of Lynden; her children, Will and Sarah (Good) Mansfield of Seattle and Michal (Mansfield) and Al Wiseman of Cultus Lake, B.C.; her grandchildren, Peyton and Harper Wiseman of Cultus Lake, B.C., and Jared Mansfield of Seattle; brothers Ronald and Kaycie Collins of Puyallup, Robert and Patricia Collins of Spanaway and Micheal and Lena Collins of Southworth, Washington.

Joy was beloved by her large close-knit extended family including many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joy and Frank hosted many foreign students who became part of their family. Joy had many incredible lifelong friends.

At Joy’s request, there will be no viewing or funeral service. A gathering for family and friends to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joy’s memory can be made to PeaceHealth Cancer Center in Bellingham, specifically the Cancer Center Patient Experience, 2901 Squalicum Parkway, Bellingham, WA 98225.
