Joyce Murland

Joyce M.K. Murland passed away on Jan. 19, 2017.

She was born to Ernest and Katherine Jacob on July 11, 1937 in Edmond, Alberta. In her early 20s, she met her husband John and they moved to British Columbia. Joyce became involved with wheelchair sports and competed throughout the world. She set a world record in javelin and was inducted into the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame in 1978. She moved to Lynden in the early 1970s and in 1982 graduated from Western Washington University with a B.A. in psychology.

She is survived by her husband, John; sister Erna (Derrick) Webster; their children Debra, Sharron and Wayne and their families; and many cousins. She will be greatly missed by her family and the many friends she made in her time with us.
