Louise Bouma

Louise Bouma of Lynden, age 96, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 12. She was a daughter of Frank and Anna Abram born on Aug. 5, 1921 in Buffalo, Wyoming. On June 9, 1940 she married Harold Bouma in Hardin, Montana, and they moved to Lynden in 1941. They were married 53 years before his passing in 1993.

Louise was a charter member of Sonlight Christian Reformed Church in Lynden, of which she still was a member, and a former charter member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church. She had a strong, firm faith in the Lord Jesus and in these final months was looking forward to entering her eternal home.

Louise was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had an unconditional love and a listening ear for each one of her family, always being there for them and letting them know in many different ways how much she cared for them. She was deeply loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Carole (Gerb) Korthuis, Pamela (Gerrit) Starkenburg and Keith (Ellen) Bouma; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and special nieces.

The family thanks the staff of Lynden Manor for their loving care of Louise during her final three years.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, in Sonlight Church, 8800 Bender Rd. in Lynden.

In honor of Louise, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Lynden Christian School, 417 Nooksack Ave., Lynden WA 98264.
